Saturday October 24th, Buddy Wilkes, a local author, will be signing copies of his new book, Overboard, at Borders Books and Music in Pier Park at 2 pm. Overboard is a fictional story inspired by the real life disappearances of passengers from cruise ships.

Here is the press release:

Infinity Publishing recently released the second novel by local author Shelton “Buddy” Wilkes.  Wilkes is known for his involvement in local tourism promotion, serving on the Board of Directors of the Bay County Tourism Development Council and Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. He also serves as the chairman of the TDC/CVB marketing committee, which is responsible for marketing and promoting Panama City Beach.

Wilkes is the general manager of Shipwreck Island Waterpark, a position he has held for nearly twenty years. Previously, he managed Miracle Strip Amusement Park until the park land was sold to developers in 2004. Prior to joining the Miracle Strip Park/Shipwreck Island team, Wilkes worked in news and sales at W.J.H.G.-TV becoming well known around the tri-state area for co-anchoring Channel Seven’s Ten O’Clock Report with Earl Hutto.

Overboard is a fictional story inspired by the real life disappearances of passengers from cruise ships, and features an unconventional F.B.I. agent named Rich Stryker, and his by-the-book partner, Special Agent Kylie Andrews. Several Bay County residents agreed to have their names associated with characters in Overboard, including Tom Najjar, the story’s evil antagonist.

The book is available from Amazon.com, Borders.com, and Wilkes will be signing copies at Borders at Pier Park on Saturday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. His website is www.sheltonwilkes.com.
