As the oil situation has begun to hit Florida shores, worry throughout the panhandle has increased. Lucky for us, Bay County has one of the most coordinated Emergency Services department in the region. This meeting will be about determining the plan of action if oil reaches our shores.

I heard yesterday that someone mentioned a Gulf Aid fundraising concert like Farm Aid from years ago. That’s the best idea I’ve heard yet! Our economy was already struggling from the real estate crisis – just when we were starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel, this happens! Getting tourists here is exactly what we need right now…we need some big named entertainers to step up and come to PCB before all of these businesses shut down forever. Summer is the only time of the year when money is made for this region – we need our tourists! BTW – the beaches are still beautiful in PCB – no sight or smell of any oil as of today!

We are heading down for Baseball tournament. The oil can’t stop us!!! The nice weather and pool is all the boys need. Praying for the beautiful beaches and hope it is that way when we come down.

Is there a place to volunteer to be trained and to help clean the oil off of the wild life? I would be very interested in helping. Could you please direct me to the right place.

I was talking to my friends in Biloxi and they havent seen any oil, none in Alabama. By the time the oil goes past all those communities it will never make it here. Theres over a 1000 people hired by BP in this area alone. One drop of oil hits this beach and 50 workers will pounce on it. The media is hyping this thing just like a hurricane. I havent seen any oil on the mainland yet, just on islands off the coast of Louisianna. The beach is beautiful right now and we are over 300 miles from the leak. Plus the winds this time of the year usually blow out of the east, blowing it in the opposite direction. I imagine the worst we will get is some tar balls on our feet. No beach closures on the gulf.

Have had wedding planned for Aug. 6th for a while now at Edgewater. Gotta plan for off the beach now, can’t plan for two weddings to much money. Hoping for the best though.

Hey, just got back from a 10 day stay on Panama City Beach (May28-June6) had a great time! The beach was absolutely gorgeous….white sand, clear water……no oil!!!! I am a Navy brat so I have lived and visited a lot of beaches around the world and I will have to tell you that Panama City Beach is one of the prettiest beaches I have ever been to. I loved it….go to the St.Andrews State Park……excellent beach! The last walk I had on the beach there was a full rainbow end to end ….what can I say but BEAUTIFUL! Please go and see for yourself…….you will be so happy you did!

Let’s all do our best to donate and/or volunteer. Not just to help the people, but the thousands, probably millions, of innocent animals that will die. This is all just a nightmare and it will be gone when I wake up … right?!?!?

Where are all the people in Hollywood with a benefit for the Oil spill? They did it for every thing and everyone else, so why not this? Not only business are hurting…the birds/fish…the environment…the air quality…property damage. And it will snow ball as time goes on…
President Obama is still sending large sums of money to other countries, has he never hear of “Charity begins at home” let the American money go to help American people…I’m not oppose to helping other countries, but heck, lets help our own first…
I sure would like to hear just what other Americans are thinking about this problem.
