“Global alarmists’ scare tactics falling flat” by Paul Chesser
The environmentalists’ public displays have become hackneyed and cliched. A “Hands Across The Sand” demonstration against offshore oil drilling, co-sponsered by nearly all the recognizable groups (including Greenpeace, Sierra Club and Audubon, plus MoveOn.org and others) drew scant media attention and participation only from the activists’ marginal ranks.
Put all the ingredients together – the Climategate deception, fraudulent scare tactics, guilt trips and stupid messaging – and the recipe flops. Americans have figured out they don’t like the taste, and they don’t believe the environmentalists when they say it’s good for their health.
Reply to: C Breeze. I will agree on one thing. The “Hands Across the Sand” demonstration was a bit silly and a waste of energy.
On the other hand, your opinion is shared by few and is a good example of redneck thinking and supports the saying “You can’t fix stupid”. Our planet and the strain on the environment is not a hoax. The Planet’s finite energy (oil) is being depleted as human population and consumption increases exponentially. Just do the simple math. Each of us should try to be real “Conservatives” and do what we can to reduce our consumption of the planets limited energy and resources. We owe it to future generations.

Paul Chesser is listed as a “director” for a North Carolina free-market think tank called the John Locke Foundation (JLF). Chesser manages the JLF’s Climate Strategies Watch project, which is set up to attack the work of the Center for Climate Strategies, an organization that advises states about how they can reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The JLF has been reluctant to provide a report of the funding it has received. However, according to a Foundation Center report, the JLF has “received at least $81,500 from organizations with fossil fuel ties (Oil and Coal) .”
The John Locke Foundation has received funding in the past from tobacco-giant Philip Morris for “public policy” work. In fact, the former president of the JLF, Marc Rotterman sat on the board of a Philip Morris funded front group called the “National Smokers Alliance” (NSA). Chesser is critical of the Center for Climate Strategies because they “staunchly believe global warming must be reduced through reductions in human-caused carbon dioxide emissions.”
In other words, Chesser is critical of the CCS because they are basing their policy direction on what the world’s scientific organizations are telling us is the reality of global warming.
According to Sourcewatch, the NSA was a front group formed circa 1993 by Philip Morris Tobacco Company was formed, “to give the appearance of grassroots opposition to smoke-free laws without its corporate involvement being detected.”
Yada, Yada, Yada “DJ”…Don’t get your Birkenstocks sweaty. So what if JCF got 81,000 dollars from fossil fuel interests (our PRIMARY sources of energy) to fund their truthful messages. At least they are not taking millions upon millions of dollars from Federal Government grants to spread FLAWED allegedly-scientific messages from the untruthful so-called “alternative-fuel” cabal. DJ, as Shakespeare said, “Me thinks thee doth protest too much..” Brush the sand off your hands DJ; “Better yet, who is DJ??” (As if THAT would make a difference.. WHAT ?…Wanna come and give me a “Liberal beating” DJ ? Are you a member of the SEIU or ACORN or the NEW Black Panthers ? ) tsk, tsk..
I am Retired Military (23 years Navy) and a researcher. It would appear from your weak response of predominately insults, you are a classic example of ““You can’t fix stupid”. Which means a dialog with you is a waste of time.
