Lynyrd Skynyrd in Panama City Beach THIS WEEKEND

If you’ve been under a rock the last couple weeks, then the fact that Lynyrd Skynyrd will be here this weekend for the Panama City Beach Seafood Wine and Music Festival is probably news to you.  Along with REO SpeedWagon, Little River Band, Lori Morgan and The Bellamy Brothers, this is sure to be the biggest Seafood festival Northwest Florida has ever seen.

Check after the break for a history, break down of the event and full weekend’s schedule.

A brief history.

The whole event takes place this weekend, October 8 through the 10th and is the third year this event has been under new management.  Previously known as the Indian Summer Music Festival, it was previously goaled at being a celebration for locals to celebrate the end of the tourism season.  Now, this event is tasked with bringing in out-of-towners to give our off-season economy a boost in tourism numbers during the “shoulder season”.  The new promoters have worked hard to not only grow the event every year, but create standards and benchmarks for what an event like this is really capable of.  E.g. past promoters claimed audience attendance in excess of 30,000, but with their trackable ticket system, we know now that attendance of numbers that great is not only not likely at Frank Brown Park, it wasn’t even possible. But, I digress.

More about the event.

Live music and entertainment will be endless. The sounds of local and area jazz, rock and country bands will fill the air and Friday, Saturday and Sunday night will be capped off with headliner entertainment including Rock legends REO Speedwagon, Saturday October 9th. The kings of southern rock LYNYRD SKYNYRD and The Little River Band cap off the festival, Sunday October 10th. Lorrie Morgan with special guests The Bellamy Brothers will kick off the festival Friday October 8th. There will truly be entertainment for all tastes at the Panama City Beach Seafood, Wine & Music Festival.

Please read below for the full event schedule.

Seafood, celebrity chef exhibitions and more.

Local and area celebrity chef’s from some of the legendary Panama City Beach restaurants including Breakers, Saltwater Grill, Firefly, Hammerhead Fred’s and more to be announced will perform special exhibitions over the 3 day event – featuring some of the best seafood you ever eaten. This is in addition to the wonderful array of food available from local and area restaurants. Other various food vendors will supply the staples you’ve come to love about outdoor festivals.

Wine from local and nationally acclaimed vineyards.

The festival offers three full-bodied days of wining, dining and socializing amid several domestic and international wines. Republic National Distributing is the exclusive wine partner of the festival and host to the wine tastings. Beginners will have an opportunity to sample the wines, learning about the make-up and the regions they come from while wine experts will have an opportunity to sample some of the rarer wines they might not otherwise get a chance to try.

Family fun days:  To benefit the Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida.

Saturday and Sunday there will be a special focus on family activities and events from Noon-3pm both days with the addition of the special DAYTIME TICKET PRICES for those families not staying for the nighttime concerts and activities. New for 2010 “GREEN AMUSEMENTS”, as the old diesel powered carnival style rides are replaced with Rock Walls, Bungees, Virtual Surf Boards, Bouncers and more environmentally friendly amusements. “KIDS LUNCH WITH SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS*”, special shows for kids by Gallagher’s Gymnastics teams and many other activities designed especially for the families with children.

Arts, crafts, antiques and more.

The Panama City Beach Seafood & Wine Festival will feature select arts & crafts vendors, retail vendors, antique dealers, and various community/charity vendors. Specialty jewelry, wood crafts, wine racks, pottery sales & demonstrations, glass art & demonstrations, stained glass, ceramics, quilts, folk art, and more.

  2. this seafood thing or whatever what you want to call it..it is nothing but a upscale flea market venu..if you wasn’t there for the concert it wasn’t no good..charge 15.00 to get in to look at a flea market..i could get that at the county fair and has more fun…will not be back….

  3. This event was pathetic!!! Seafood and Wine festival are you kidding me. There were about 4 local restaurants with mininal offerings the other maybe 6 vendors offered typical festival fried food. To actually put “wine” in the title was a total misrepresentation when you only offer one wine which can be bought at any grocery store for $4.99 a bottle. And to top it all off they had the nerve to charge $27 per person and $5 to park. What a complete rip off! Typical of Panama City- could have been great – but total lack of creativity and professionalism makes it ordinary and common.

  4. To Julie, Sorry to hear you were disappointed. You must have gone during the early part of the day too and did not see the bands. If so, I agree it’s a rip off. My suggestion for the organizers; Charge the high prices after 6:00, or make it a evening event for the people coming to see the bands/shows.
For a couple to spend $59 (family even more) to sample a couple of glasses of wine, visit a flea market, and buy some carnie food is very much a disappointment and a rip off.
It would be interesting to see the numbers (who’s making out $$) from this event.
