Has the recession got you down? It seems these days, everyone’s blaming everything on the recession. Ad sales are down, blame it on the recession; business is slow, blame it on the recession; tourism numbers are down (actually they were up, more on that later), blame it on the recession; my iPhone is working and 3G is great but sometimes it just doesn’t seem to pick up in brick buildings, under bridges or in between condo towers, blame it on the recession!!
We’ve teamed up with local businesses, friends, and ourselves and decided to offer a little relief in the form of giving all kinds of stuff away. In fact, as long as people keep giving us stuff to give away, we’ll keep giving it away to you!
So, here’s what we’re giving away this week:
100 Two Color, One Sided 3.5 x 2 inch Business Cards, printed on high-quality hand-made paper. The winner gets their choice from 3 custom designs and let me tell you these cards are sweet. Everything from Fresh Impression is done by hand on a Letterpress, and if you’re not familiar with what a Letterpress is: it is a rather large mechanical piece of machinery that imprints a custom design on really thick paper. While it “presses” the patter/design, it inlays ink that is applied by hand to a “plate” leaving an inked “impression” that leaves a HUGE impact on your customers.
If you have any questions about letterpress or if you want to see samples of their work, you can contact the guys at Fresh Impression.
To win, just post a comment below telling us how you are going to use the cards, and yes, feel free to plug your business. At the end of the week (or next Monday, rather) we’ll draw one lucky person from all the comments and put you in touch with the Fresh Impression guys. Be sure to use your correct name and email address so we can get in touch with you.
If you are a local business and want FREE ADVERTISING on the most read web site exclusively about Panama City Beach, email me and tell me what you have to give away and we’ll get you in line for the PCB Stimulus Giveaway!

These are awesome! I’d use them for my business, Karsun Designs. I just changed a phone number so these would be perfect for me.

I meant to say that this is about a $200 value. I’ve been handed these cards before, and when someone hands you one of these, it feels like big-bucks.

I have a Sunbird condo that I rent and leave cards for my guests that are hand made. I believe these would look much more classier.

I’m sure they are great cards. You might also take a look at Vistaprint.com for a lot of free stuff, business cards, magnets, posters, pens, hats etc. I order from them in small quantities several times a week.

Bill, you’re right, Vistaprint is a great resource if you want CHEAP cards for free. The product that Fresh Impression puts out is high-end. If you want to look fancy, you go with them. If you want to look cheap, you go with Vistaprint.
So, Bill, do you want me to enter you? Or are you just going to give Vistaprint more free advertising?

Gee Jason… Pretty harsh on Bill’s comment don’t you think? Not everyone is in need of ‘looking’ anything more than they are which is hardworking and frugal.
This printing method certainly is beautiful and classy but better served for attorneys, wedding planners and baby showers. The more cards I am able to circulate the higher the number of impressions I make and that is what brings in business.
Jason your site used to be just good information sharing… your comments are more and more personal as time goes on… a little disappointing.

I’d have to use these to promote myself and my freelance work. Recession or not, the fact I love my work means I’m happy to work whilst the next guy sleeps / watches the game / finishes the next level on an x box game etc.
The cards would help me build relationships with new clients for either graphic design, or web design… or even to impress some of the local charities / organizations I do FREE work for such as the Miracle Baseball League at Frank Brown Park – who I am currently making a free website for to improve their image and promote this amazing Panama City community resource 🙂

The only thing I ever ‘won’ was 630 jelly beans (& the jar they came in) at a 4th of July HOA picnic around 1958 or so, no need to enter me for business cards as I am not trying to impress anyone these days.
I order from V.P. mostly the refrigerator magnet items, some with calanders, some with messages about my blog site(s) etc. They also have a wide range of design yourself post cards which I use to keep other owners up to date with things at the condo.
You can regard this either as an advertisement for V.P. or just my complementing a firm for putting out good useful items, many available in small quantities ‘free’.

As a photographer I know that getting business is largely based on creativity and originality. The best way to portray that quickly is to have a business card that reflects just that. I also want to have business cards that I KNOW will not get thrown away or misplaced because each one feels unique and well thought out. These custom cards would be perfect for me!

Thanks for the awesome giveaway, my husband and I just started our own business and we’ve been holding off on getting business cards because of the cost that can be used elsewhere right now. Thanks for the chance!

You cant get amazing stuff like this around here. As a designer you need to imPRESS your clients – and 80lb cover stock just isn’t going to cut it. I have the FILetterpress’ blog bookmarked – I love looking at the small 3.5×2 inch works of art and hope to make a purchase some day …. once this damn economy bounces back!! 😉

Hey man, listen. I have a crappy website at least I could get some nice business cards. This would be perfect because I’m a student and there have been a few chances to get work from people but they forget my e-mail address and stuff. So if I had some sick letterpress business cards it would help out a tonne. Also if you ever need an 3d work done maybe some animations for your website or something let me know!

Wow, thanks so much for all the great responses!
Jason, I’m very interested in your pro-moustache business. Do you have a web site yet? If so, can you post a link to it here?
Adam, your site isn’t bad, but there are a lot of great resources out there that you can use to get into a great portfolio site for not a lot of money (less than $100) for a great site. email me at jason@pcbdaily.com if you want to chat!
We are running the drawing on Monday to choose the winner! Good luck to everyone!

I was gonna say it’d be cool to have a nice card like that that says your name and then “Unemployed….but at least I have a baddass card”
But really, I do some wedding photography to try to make ends meet too, so that would probably be the best choice.

I’m a currently a first year law student who loves design yet has chosen a very conservative profession. I want my business cards to reflect my inner-self while simultaneously making a strong professional statement. I have been hunting for the perfect business cards to set me apart from the competition in a tough job market and sincerely believe letterpress is the answer. Letterpress is a fashionable way that allows my inner artist to come out in a profession that demands tradition. Because much of being a successful lawyer is based upon appearance, I am not underestimating the power of details and know letterpress business cards would make a lasting impression. However, letterpress does not exactly suit a student’s budget. Regardless, I will continue my pursuit for the perfect business cards and hope I can find a way to make the statement I am looking for sooner rather than later. Thank you for this opportunity.
