Will the Seafood Festival be Back?

This week’s TDC meeting ended unclear of the future of the Panama City Beach Seafood Wine and Music Festival.  The event last year was more successful than it had ever been, but it also had $210,000 worth of funding.  There is only a prospective $60,000 on the table this year, and that’s not even certain.  With nobody having stepped up to the plate to take over running the event and limited funds, at this point, the future of the Seafood Festival is totally unknown.

Guide to Local Gas Prices

As a community, we may not always agree on the same things.

However, there’s some thing in town that equally hit us all.  For example, Traffic, Real Estate, Tourism, even that smell the Paper Mill gives off.

Gas Prices-  another solid example of something we all deal with.

Granted, our daily drive is easier then commuters in other cities (ahem, Atlanta. Where a milk run to the local store can run you about 45 minutes, one way)

Yet, most of us still end up spending quite a bit of time behind the wheel and if you work in town but live on the beach, forget about it.  All that back and forth driving can really add up at the pump.

Weekend Weather- Good Lookin’

Looking for weekend weather updates? Bookmark our Weather category!

Head for the parks, the beaches or someone’s inflatable pool this weekend because the temps are heating up and the skies are begging you to get out of the house.

If you don’t have a legitimate reason to leave the house, make one up. Practice the fine art of Garden Gnome Liberation (preferably not your neighbors please), pretend to get lost en route to the Grocery store, or simply do what my Mom used to do to me as a kid. Offer up two options and let the family decide. My Mom’s tactic was “Play outside or Take out the trash” and with that, off to the great outdoors we went!

Jersey Shore vs PCB

What do Jersey Shore and Panama City Beach have in common?

Well, both of us made national news in the celebrity blogs today.  TMZ.com and their band of CIA-like minions, were able to dig up this bit of news from Sunday night at Club La Vela.

This past weekend, “celebrity guest”  Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and former castmate Angelina Pivarnick were in town to host a party at Club La Vela.

Both “The Situation” and Angelina have risen to reality-pseudo stardom from MTV’s controversial Jersey Shore show.

According to TMZ, numerous patrons began complaining to La Vela’s staff regarding Angelina’s drunken behavior. The Club finally escorted her from the property for being “rude to patrons and staff”

Here’s an excert from TMZ’s report: “A rep from the club tells us Angelina was escorted from the property for being “rude to patrons and staff” … but sources inside the establishment claim the final straw was when the former reality star “drunkenly tried to fight another girl in the V.I.P. area. Angie left without further incident — but she isn’t permanently banned from the joint … in fact, she’s still scheduled to make a few more appearances in the near future.”

After publishing this original story, TMZ.com followed with this update “Angelina claims she was never in a fight — but tells us she’s pissed at club security for putting her in a headlock when she got involved in a situation involving one of her friends.  Angelina says she’s considering taking legal action against the club.”

Personally, Club La Vela’s job is to keep the club’s environment safe and pleasant for both, patrons and staff. If you factor in the size of the club, and the volume of people their used to handling, it seems like it would take a lot for them to actually escort someone off the premise. Especially someone La Vela brought in and promoted as their “Celebrity Guest.”

Considering Angelina’s drunken antics have consistently made the news, and almost always involve her starting (or being) in fights or horrific treatment of anyone in earshot, it appears as those Club Le Vela was doing what was in the best interest of their club-goers and staff.

Welcome to the South, Jersey.
