Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill – Public Information Meeting TODAY

There will be a meeting today, May 4, at 4:30 PM (previously scheduled at 2:00), at the Okaloosa County School District Administrative Building 120 Lowery Street S.E. in Fort Walton Beach with representatives from the DEP, BP, the US Coast Guard, Okaloosa County, and other officials. This meeting is being held to answer as many of your questions as possible. Please plan to attend for any information you need concerning the oil spill.

11/6/09 – Taste of The Beach in Pier Park

Bring your taste buds and sipping hands for this venue will be an international wine tasting experience with over 300 wines to taste and food samplings from various Bay County restaurants. Held at Pier Park in Panama City Beach, proceeds from the tasting go to benefit various local charities dedicated to helping underprivileged children. 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Florida Panhandle recongnized in national publication

Again Northwest Florida has been recongnized in a national publication. Ocean Home Magazine featured our area in their Winter 2007/2008 issue in the article titled StoryBook Settings. The article speaks into the area’s “picturesque developments [adhereing] to the principles of New Urbanism”.

I have to admit, after reading the first part, I wonder if St. Joe played a significant part in influencing this article, but it does speak into other areas such as SanDestin, Seaside and Alys Beach. The article is very flattering and definitely reinforces my pride in our area.
