It’s been a work in progress for several years now, but we are excited to announce that the brand new Panama City Beach library is opening its doors on May 24th!
The groundbreaking ceremony for this state-of-the-art facility was held on April 9th, 2009, and since then work has been underway to build a library that will far surpass the current building situated on Highway 79.
The Panama City Beach library serves over 72,500 patrons a year, and the increasing usage had basically exceeded its size and resources. The new $2.2 million building will be 10,000 square feet in size, and will offer a computer center, a literacy center teaching English as a second language, and an excellent children’s center. We can expect a much larger selection of books than are currently at the existing library, and hopefully having such a wonderful resource on our doorstep will encourage us to take a break from the craziness of the virtual world and enjoy books in all subjects, shapes and sizes!
The new Panama City Beach Library will open on May 24th at the corner of Hutchinson Blvd/Middle Beach Road and Lyndell Lane.
can’t wait!

What wonderful news! I am a regular patron of the library, but find myself going over the bridge to the Bay County library because the beach selection and hours are restricted. My son and I can’t wait to start spending our Sunday afternoons at this new facility!

My teenager and myself are avid readers, so we have been waiting patiently for the new library to open! As locals, we need low cost & free entertainment.
