Dune Buggy Attraction coming to Panama City Beach

Put your driving gloves on because Panama City Beach’s newest attraction will be the Panama Dunes Dune Buggy Adventure Park.  Located right on Front Beach Road, directly across from the beautiful and emerald green Gulf of Mexico, this half-mile track will take you up and down and all around.

For years, this property has sat practically vacant with nary a thought about what the future may hold for it.  But this time next year, it will be home to laughs and memories unlike anything Panama City Beach has ever seen.  The dune buggies will be open tired, two seaters and gas powered.

The website states that they’ll be using BMS dune buggies.  I was able to see one of the buggies when I was there this morning, and it looked alot like the one pictured here, listed as the 250cc model on the BMS website.  The specs say it’s a 17 hp water-cooled gas engine with an age restriction of 18.  So, we’ll see.

The course looks pretty fun with dips that look to go down 6 or so feet and small obstacle areas and broad and tight corners.  The track will be framed with rail-road ties and adorned with landscaping.  And, according to the website, they’re going to import some crystal white sand to match our beaches.

The website says they’ll be open in July, but with that date obviously missed, I’d think they could get it open by late September.  I’ve not been able to get in touch with anyone that knows any solid time-frame.

I have no idea on the cost, but was told that the age restriction will be 14.  There will also be other things to do there as well.  Although this is not confirmed either, I’d picture an arcade, or some other various beach attraction variety.

Looks fun!

  1. Well this is good news. Maybe the addition of loud dune buggies on Front Beach Rd. will drown out the sound of those obnoxious scooters…

  3. Good Idea……..young people need something to do late in the evening and at night. This will be perfect! Any vacation spot in my opinion needs activities (lots) for people to do at night. You walk the beach/swim all day……. good things to do in the evening are fantastic!

  4. Cant wait until you open!!! Someone needs to build a Indoor Karting track like the one in Dothan called Hotshots that shut down about 2 years ago. That past was Great 11 turn road course at speeds 50+mph. It would make money on any day RAIN or SHINE. Love to see one of those come in one day.
