Get Ready for the World’s Greatest Pre-Season Tailgate Party!

This weekend, Panama City Beach is pulling out all the stops and hosting a city-wide tailgate party to get you in the mood for football season – the likes of which has never been seen before!

From big name concerts to parades and championship games, you’ll have a blast whatever team you support. Even if you’re like me and don’t really follow football, this tailgate party is going to create such a buzz around town that you won’t be able to help getting caught up in it all!  I will be covering all the action and will be posting pics daily, so watch this space if you can’t make it out to any of the events.

Thursday, August 26th 2010

1:00pm – Celebrity Golf Tournament. Tee off with your favorite college football celebrity at Hombre Golf Club. Fee is $100.00 per golfer. Awards reception to follow. Call 850 234 3673 for more information or to register.

7:00 – 9:00pm – LoCash Cowboys perform an outdoor concert at Aaron Bessant Park. Small coolers and pets on a leash are permitted. Bring your chairs & blankets! This compellingly charismatic duo put on one of the most dynamic live shows in country/rock music. Check out www.locashcowboys.com

9:30pm – Alumni groups to gather at several sports clubs and grills across the beach for watching classic games and highlights.  Sports celebrities will be making rounds to meet and greet fans. *Sports clubs to be announced.

6:00am – Celebrity Charter Fishing Trips. Enjoy a day of fishing with sports celebrities aboard some of the best charter boats at Grand Lagoon in Panama City Beach. Trips will last 4 hours ($130pp) or 8 hours ($260pp). After a successful day of fishing, everyone will be invited to the “Hook and Cook” at Boatyard, where you will be able to eat your fresh catch! Chef Konrad will prepare the fish and offer three sides for $9.00 per person.  Call Capt. Anderson’s Marina now at (800) 874 2415 to make your reservations.

6:00pm – 8:00pm – Country music star Sara Evans performs live on the beach behind Boardwalk Beach Resort. There is no charge for the benefit concert. Opening for Sara Evans is Craig Campbell.

9:00pm – BAMA vs.UF – 2009 SEC Championship game replayed on 23’ screen at Aaron Bessant Park.

9:30pm – Fans to gather for late night football and meet & greet opportunities by coaches, players and cheerleaders in area restaurants. *Restaurants to be announced.

Saturday August 28th 2010

TAILGATE TIME! – Gather your foam fingers, outdoor grills and paint your team faces to show your school spirit. Tailgate Central is located on Hilton Drive in Pier Park and Aaron Bessant Park. Activities include: best dressed fan(s), outrageous auto competition, spirit parade with alumni, fans, cheerleaders, coaches and players, plus a barbecue lunch and lots of prizes.

4:00pm – Pep Rally. Each school team will take the stage behind Boardwalk Beach Resort to announce their kick-off games and show their team spirit.

6:00pm – 8:00pm – John Rich (from Big & Rich) performs live on the beach behind Boardwalk Beach Resort. This benefit concert is free.

9:00pm – FIREWORKS! To finish out the weekend, enjoy a spectacular display of fireworks over the Gulf of Mexico. Free, and happening on the beach behind Boardwalk Beach Resort.
