The American Heart Association’s 2011 Heart Ball was one week ago today and raised a goal smashing $116,000. This was 22% more than they had hoped for. I had the great pleasure of attending the event this year and was blown away at how nice and fancy it was!

Sponsored by Cessna, the whole event was speckled with their latest fleet of personal and private aircraft. Of course, this was quite fitting as it was held at the General Aviation Hangars at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.
The food was great, the entertainment was spectacular and the silent and regular auction was successful. This event was a blast for all who attended.

Panama City Beach, Fla. The American Heart Association is pleased to announce that net proceeds totaling $116,000 were raised at the 18 Annual Bay County Heart Ball, held on Friday, April 8, 2011, exceeding the event’s fundraising goal by 22%.
The Bay County Heart Ball is the community’s signature fundraising event for the American Heart Association with funds raised directly impacting the organization’s mission to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
“Each year we look to raise the bar on the event experience & expand our fundraising effort,” stated Karen Blackerby, Event Chairperson. “This year’s overwhelming success would not have been possible without the generosity of our business community. I would like to acknowledge all sponsors, participants, our media partners as well as the planning committee for embracing this year’s Heart Ball.”
This year’s event was held at the General Aviation Hangars at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Over 350 guests attended the 18th Annual Heart Ball’s “Evening in First Class” which included gourmet food, unique live & silent auction items generously donated by local businesses, and entertainment by the Go Big or Go Home Band.
“Heart disease and stroke together claim more lives than any other disease, putting people of all ages –from infants to the elderly—at risk,” stated Amy Cope, Regional Director, American Heart Association. “Bay County has once again demonstrated amazing generosity and unparalleled support for the American Heart Association’s mission.”
