Seafood Fest May Get Another $150k from CVB

The oil spill threat this summer took it’s toll on the opportunity for us to have a slammin’, jammin’ summer, but it wasn’t all bad.  Our image was certainly tarnished, our tourism numbers were down a bit, but on the plus side, the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitor’s Bureau received $2 million from BP to be used for marketing the beaches of Panama City Beach.  This influx of marketing money has saved our CVB $750,000 from their regular marketing budget this year so far and has freed up some cash to use in other arenas.

REMINDER – Three Day Christian Music Festival on the Beach

The Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, a REAL.FUN.BEACH. destination offering something for everyone, has announced REAL.FUN.MUSIC., a three-day contemporary Christian music festival featuring Point of Grace, Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant.  Part of Panama City Beach’s SUMMER OF FUN campaign, REAL.FUN.MUSIC. will take place Friday, Aug. 20 – Sunday, Aug. 22 on the beach across from Pier Park at the City Pier,* and is free for all visitors and residents.

Are You Ready For Football? TDC To Host "World's Greatest Pre-Season Tailgate

It’s that time of year again when you can break out that old jersey, dust off the pigskin and get ready for football. To get you amped up for the season, The Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the “World’s Greatest Pre-season Tailgate”.

From Thursday, August 26 – Saturday, August 28, the REAL.FUN.BEACH. destination has partnered with ISP Sports Network (America’s Home for College Sports) to host the first annual World’s Greatest Pre-Season Tailgate event. Alumni, students, coaches, players, cheerleaders, mascots and sports fans from nine universities among other colleges will convene in Panama City Beach to show their school pride with a series of activities that include a celebrity golf tournament, charter fishing trips, full day of tailgating with BBQ contest, parade, pep rallies and musical performances by country music sensations Sara Evans and John Rich. The St. Louis “Spending” Caravan to Visit Panama City Beach

As Panama City Beach residents and businesses continue to raise awareness concerning the oil free local beaches, they will welcome the St. Louis Spending Caravan on August 11. The group will travel through town, visiting various businesses to boost spirits and the local economy on Wednesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 12. Departing St. Louis, MO Monday, August 9, the caravan of St. Louis residents and others from differing regions plan to visit various Gulf Coast cities, leading an effort of awareness with monetary and humanitarian support. Pirate Festival at Pier Park – THIS WEEKEND

HUGE Celebration at Pier Park THIS SATURDAY

Pier Park will come alive this weekend with BeachFest!  This fun, family oriented event will take place Saturday, July 17th starting at 4:00 pm with the evening events ending with a 9:00 pm fireworks show.  It’s a celebration of thanks for all of the guests visiting Panama City Beach whether they are visiting from 20 or 2,000 miles away.  It’s all about family fun at Panama City Beach and there is no charge.

TDC: We’re Open For For Business, But Prepared For Worst Case Scenario

On Tuesday, Mark Bowen, Chief of Emergency Services, accompanied by Lieutenant Caskey of the Coast Guard, met with the TDC and CVB to discuss plans of action in the event that the oil spill hit Panama City Beach’s shores. Chief Bowen answered questions and concerns from the board as well as from audience members in the attempt to reinforce the message that there is no impact on Panama City Beach, we’re open for business and that we are preparing diligently for that day if it comes.

The plans to manage the consequences of the event, if it happens, will consist of a booming strategy, a beach protection plan and finally, if needed, a comprehensive disposal plan of oils and any contaminated soils and sand. Sweet Rides at Corvette Beach Odyssey

If you love corvettes or have one you want to show off this weekend’s Corvette Beach Odyssey held April 23 & 24 is the place for you and all proceeds to benefit the Taunton Children’s Home.

The show, hosted by the Emerald Coast Corvette Club, will be held at Pier Park in the parking lot behind Buffalo Wild Wings. The display will be from 6-9pm, April 23, 9-2pm, April 24. The event is free to the public and activities will include music by a local D.J.
