Panama City POPS Orchestra – “To Our Heroes” on PCB

Whoever said that Panama City Beach lacked a cultural touch clearly hasn’t been to a Panama City POPS concert held at the Arnold High School Auditorium! Demand for the Panama City POPS Orchestra has grown so much that the orchestra now holds all of its performances in Panama City Beach, with the next performance  happening on Saturday, March 13th. The concert will consist of 100% patriotic music based on the theme “To Our Heroes”, and is a musical salute to all of the brave men and women who have served, and are serving in our military. It’s going to be classical Americana, the Panama City POPS way!

After the honor guard and pledge of allegiance has preceded the concert, listeners can expect a night of wonderful music to include a special song honoring all five branches of the military, during which audience members who served in each particular branch are asked to stand. There will also be music from South Pacific, “Hymn to the Fallen” from the movie Saving Private Ryan and much, much more. In addition to the evening’s heroic theme, the program will also encompass a brush of traditional Americana – that together create the recipe for a perfectly patriotic experience. “I’m a big flag waver!” says Maestro Eddie Rackley. “I am really looking forward this concert and honoring the many men and women serving in our forces today.”

The Panama City POPS Orchestra started out as the conventional “Orchestra of St. Andrew’s” before becoming a more contemporary ensemble. Today, the Panama City POPS Orchestra features a spectacular, harmonious blend of classical and pop music that is both easy on the ears and fun for the whole family. Not only does the Orchestra showcase four performances each year, but it also offers an ongoing mentoring program for young musicians. “The Panama City POPS Orchestra mentor those who pass specific audition requirements and who are already taught to a certain level of expertise” says Mr Rackley. “This is a great opportunity for the student to learn from one of the orchestra’s many talented musicians, and to be a part of music education as a whole, especially as it seems to be lacking more and more in schools. ”
