This is part of our Secrets of Panama City Beach series, showing you things about the beach, you’ve never dreamed of.
This week is a special treat for me because I have the opportunity to write about one of my all time faves! Nestled under oak trees and sitting right on West Bay; Boon Docks Restaurant is a must try Secret of PCB. The drive to Boon Docks does make one think you may be going in the wrong direction, but rest assured it’s there, just set back off the main road.
The restaurant looks more like someone’s house rather than a place to eat because it is made up of three parts; an old fish house, bait store and a house. The down home charm that Boon Docks offers on the inside takes you a step back in time inviting you to stay a while.
Boon Docks has a menu filled with locally caught seafood. They use their own special recipe and spices for grillin’ and fryin’ which gives the food unbelievable taste! A must try is the fried pickles, the tastiest I’ve had in PCB so far. Boon Docks also serve another unique appetizer, corn nuggets. The best way I can describe them are, kennels of corn rolled into a ball, lightly battered and fried – um, yum! They make a great start to any meal and are only found here.
A word of caution from me to you, you WILL. NOT. leave hungry. Meal portions are enough to satisfy the biggest appetites. My favorites include the grilled shrimp salad and the grouper dinner.
For those of you who can’t decide, no problem here as the menu offers options to choose two main dishes and create your own customized dinner combination. Still not enough? Order up the signature dish, Boat Trash – shrimp, oyster, grouper and devil crab! And don’t forget dessert, all are homemade deliciousness.
After dinner, take a stroll on the docks or visit the onsite gift shop, Pickles Gifts, offering that one of a kind gift from PCB. During the summer live music can be heard on the docks. My suggestion is try a wine slushie, grab a chair, kick-back and relax. You won’t be disappointed with service, the experience, or the food.
Call ahead for hours and directions, (850) 230-0005.
I will be back after the holidays with the next exciting stop in the series. Happy Holidays to all!
Thanks for the nice write-up on my very favorite seafood restaurant in the area. We locals know all about the great food at Boon Docks. I love the combo seafood dinners where you can pick two of your favorites. And yes the desserts are scrumptious!
