Optimisim On PCB: Jason Koertge

For those of you who do not know Jason Koertge, he is the creator of PCBDaily.com and one of the areas most innovative business leaders. What you may not know about Jason is that he is not a native of Panama City Beach which provides him a unique perspective on our great city as both an outsider and one who has studied the beach’s in and outs in order to tell it’s story through PCBDaily.

We sat down with Jason and asked him about his optimistic views about Panama City Beach.

1. How has Panama City Beach changed since you’ve become a resident?

When I first moved here in 2001, I barely knew Panama City Beach existed. Still in college, and only coming to “the beach” on weekends, I had no idea of the economic potential or what the pending real estate boom was about to do to the area. Continue reading “Optimisim On PCB: Jason Koertge”

Rates Ease – Oil Spill Effects

Mortgage rates have fallen back to some of their lowest levels of the year as investors have been returning to the U.S. bond market as continued worry over the debt problems facing Europe’s so-called PIIGS – Portugal, Ireland, Iceland, Greece and Spain- have caused a move away from risk to the relative safety of Treasury debt. Greece has been the biggest concern after Standard and Poors cut the nation’s debt quality rating to junk status. Failure by the EU member countries, all of whom are facing debt concerns of their own, to craft a viable bailout plan for Greece has fueled fears that the global economy may be facing long-term repercussions from deficits as a whole. Mortgage rates always seem to come out a winner when the economic news is bad and this week has been no exception. The benchmark thirty-year, fixed-rate stands right at 5.00% with no points and the fifteen-year is just under 4.50% at 4.375% with no points. Continue reading “Rates Ease – Oil Spill Effects”

Thunder Beach Venue at Bay Point Off to a Good Start

I know that a lot of people, myself included, were pretty shocked when we first heard that Bay Point was going to be one of the venues for this year’s Thunder Beach spring rally. The two just didn’t seem go together, and there were many understandable concerns from Bay Point and Panama City Beach residents about the potential noise and disruptions from the large number of motorcycles. An Update on the Newly Opened Miracle Strip at Pier Park

Southwest Unveils New "Florida One" Plane

This is straight from the Southwest Blog!

“IT’S HERE! We kept it under wraps as long as we could, but today I’m so excited to announce the unveiling of Florida One–a Boeing 737 emblazoned with an artist’s rendering of the state flag.  Florida One has been secreted away in a private hanger somewhere in the state of Louisiana this week, so I can speak for a lot of people when I say we are so ready to finally show it off!  Southwest kicked off the event with a press conference in a Tampa International Airport hangar with our CEO Gary Kelly, National Wildlife Refuge Association’s President Evan Herche, and Southwest’s Florida-based Employees. Everyone was dressed to the nines, even our very own Chamber of Commerce president Beth Oltman (see photo) was dressed in the spirit of the evening. Aisles of businesses owners gave out all sorts of free stuff—shout out to Felecia at Simon for the free movie ticket for my near-perfect bean-bag toss–and PCBDaily will shot 30 seconds of fame spots that we will be airing later this week. It was a great time. Check the juggling videos, specifically the first one; the impromptu robot about 25 seconds in. Good times.
