FREE Shipwreck Island 2010 Season Passes Each Week

We just wanted to let you know that Shipwreck Island is giving away two Season Passes per week to one of their lucky Facebook Fans starting this week for the next three weeks.  They will be doing the drawing on each Friday, 7/30, 8/6, 8/13.

All you have to do to have a chance to win is go over to their Facebook Fan Page, click the “Like” button and at the end of each week, they are going to do a drawing from all their fans and pick a winner.  Each winner will get two Season Passes, there will be three winners total.

These Season Passes are good for the remainder of the 2010 season.  The park is open August 1-10. Then open again on August 14, 15, 21, 28, and September 4, 5, and 6.

Oil Plume is 145 Miles Away from Panama City Beach

Pack your beach towels and sun screen and get down to the beach because we’ve been almost completely oil free (other than sun tan oil) for more than a month and there is no projected impact in sight.  We’ve been blessed with easterly winds which have kept the beaches of Panama City Beach of the plume projection models from NOAA.

Over the last several weeks, very sparse and scattered instances of tar balls have been reported and cleaned up along the beach.  But, these instances have been so few that most people that have come down here to vacation have had no idea that there was ever anything foreign wash ashore.  If you’ve been keeping an eye on our Facebook page, then you know that hundreds are posting their great experiences that they have had down here while on vacation.

Pirate Festival at Pier Park – THIS WEEKEND

We’re halfway through the summer season in Panama City Beach, but we still have months of warm weather and plenty of time to enjoy Miracle Strip @ Pier Park.

You may remember a few months back, when Teddy and Jenny Meeks finally brought their vision to fruition by opening the much appraised and anticipated Miracle Strip @ Pier Park.  It all started with the original Carousel they purchased, restored and opened in Pier Park early 2009.  People came from all around to relive childhood memories of their carousel adventures of yesteryear.

Ruptured Oil Well Capped, Is the Oil Spill Threat Behind Us?

More than half-way through the summer, BP has finally capped the spewing well in the Gulf of Mexico and is, at this point, preventing any more oil from spewing from the ruptured Deep Horizon Oil well 5,000 feet below the surface.  There are reports that the capping has instigated a seepage of oil in other spots, which could be terrible if confirmed, but with the first of two relief wells almost complete and set to open in just a couple short weeks, officials are hopeful that there is an end in sight to this mess.
