The Cantina Bar & Grill Brings a Latin Flavor to Pier Park

If you are a fan of Mexican food and heading up to Pier Park anytime soon, then you absolutely must check out the new Cantina Bar & Grill at Pier Park. When it comes to Mexican, there are already several Panama City Beach restaurants that are popular both in terms of menu and atmosphere – but the Cantina Bar & Grill takes the experience one step further. The Pier Park location is a bonus (the restaurant can be found opposite Red Robin in the spot that Baja Grill used to call home), and in addition to the unique, mouth-watering cuisine, there are plenty of extras that you won’t find anywhere else.

The menu, although similar in style to a traditional Mexican restaurant, offers a much wider variety of choices. Appetizers include Loco Queso al Fuego – Chihuahua cheese with roasted poblano peppers, spicy chorizo sausage and mushrooms, fired tableside. There’s a great selection of soups, salads and lunch specials, and entrees include Baja Fish Tacos – grilled tilapia served in flour tortillas with red marinated cabbage, pico de gallo and one side. One of the best things about The Cantina Bar & Grill’s menu is that it offers some side items that you won’t find anywhere else. Jalapeño sweet grits, coconut rice, sautéed green beans and sweet potato chips are just a few of the delicious options to accompany your meal.

The Cantina Bar & Grill is an excellent choice when you are looking for a new Panama City Beach restaurant, but it’s not just the food that will impress. The Cantina is actually the place to see and be seen! Perfect for after work drinks, weekend margaritas or fancy cocktails, the restaurant is incredibly spacious and airy and is a great space to relax with friends. There are daily drink specials including buy one Margarita and get the 2nd half off on Wednesdays, and bloody Mary specials on Sunday mornings. Not much of a Sunday morning person? Every Thursday night at 8:30 pm the Cantina Bar & Grill is offering free traditional salsa lessons, and on Friday and Saturday nights from about 10:00 pm onwards the whole place goes from laid-back restaurant to hot Latin nightspot! Disco nights are hopping till the early hours, and there’s no cover until the season is in full swing!
The Cantina Bar & Grill in Pier Park is so much more than just another new Panama City Beach restaurant. If you like good food, culture, and vibrant music, it is definitely worth stopping by and seeing for yourself why this recent addition should be sticking around for a long time to come.

Open 7 days a week. Lunch 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Dinner 3:00 pm till Close. Bar Open till Whenever!

Local Media Companies Win Big!

Last Saturday night the American Advertising Federation of Panama City held their Annual Addy Awards Banquet at Edgewater Beach Resort conference center. Presented by Holly O’ Connor and Miguel Fuller of Island 106, over 70 awards were given out for various categories of marketing and advertising in our region. Below are a few photos from the event.

One of the highlights of the event was when Innovations Federal Credit Unions holiday video was played as it won an award. Check it out… it was really fun!

Other companies present at the event were Cornerstone Marketing, Kerrigan Marketing, Bluewater Inet Group and CYber SYtes. There were also guests at the banquet such as a group from Baypoint Marriott, the Kaleidoscope Theater and The Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce.

It was great to see such a talented and friendly group of media professionals getting together and genuinely appreciating each other’s work. With this region of Florida slated for high speed economic expansion it is good to know that businesses and organizations need look no further than their backyard for top notch marketing and advertising talent.

Mission Accomplished: An Interview with Coastal Vision 3,000’s Buddy Runnels

Over the course of the last 2 months following Coastal Vision 3000’s announcement of its disbanding, numerous articles have been written, many speculative, as to what caused the doors to close. Even more were curious as to the declaration of, “Mission Accomplished,” and what goals of Coastal Vision 3,000 were actually achieved. To answer our questions, we went directly to the source, Mr. Davage “Buddy” Runnels, who served as the chairman of CV3’s board. In his view, the mission was accomplished, but not yet completed. Mardi Gras @ Pier Park a Success! 40,000 Show Up, Park Everywhere

(Click READ MORE to see video from the parade!)

Mardi Gras 2010, or more aptly named Mardi Gras at the Beach was put on by the Krewe of Dominique Youx.  This monumental event far exceeded expectations of local officials, event organizers and locals alike.  Last year the event was huge despite poor weather and threatening rain.  This year, with cloudy skies, a peeking sun and chilly weather, the event was even MUCH larger. Weekly Half Hitch Fishing Report

PORT ST JOE AREA

BAY FISHING In January, the trout and redfish are in the deeper holes and up into the canals. Live shrimp is the bait of choice with the lightest weight possible to keep your baits under control. For this time of year, the Gulf canal is a great place to fish. You can start past Raffield’s Fisheries continue to the “T”. The Port St Joe Marina is a favorite trout hole with the smaller trout far outnumbering large ones at the onset of January, but will increase in size by the end of the month. Big redfish can be caught trolling Mann’s Stretch 25’s in the bay or throwing big soft plastics. The key for the big reds is to look for any bird activity. Short Sales – Hang on, Help is on the way!

I am very excited about news coming down the pike as a Realtor and my happy news may well be good news for would be buyers and sellers of short sales. When someone calls me about a home and I, through gritted teeth, tell them that it is a short sale, I can just hear their eyes rolling in their head. Hopefully these new Treasury proposed guidelines will help us all.

The main reason for the gritting of teeth and the eye rolling is the unsure outcome and the long time frame in waiting for the bank to give us an answer on a short sale. The new guidelines proposed by the federal government for short sales will address this issue. The new rules will give lenders a 10 day limit to respond to offers, free borrowers from dept and even provide financial incentives to lenders.

As the housing slump enters its fifth year these guidelines should factor into helping us see the light at the end of our tunnel. To speed up the process the U. S. Treasury is calling for lenders to respond to short sale offers within 10 business days. Sellers would be eligible for $1500 in moving allowances and they will not be strapped with repayment of any dept.

To further encourage banks, lenders will get $1,000 to cover administrative costs, while investors owning the mortgages will receive a maximum $1,000 for allowing up to $3,000 in short sale proceeds to be distributed to less senior lenders. Loan servicers participating in the Obama Administrations Home Affordable Modification Program are required to follow the guidelines.

The plan that must be implemented by lenders no later than April may be too late for my short sale that has been waiting on a decision since last April. We have gone through 3 buyers and it looks like we are at an impasse and off to foreclosure we go even though we have a willing buyer and seller. The first and second position lenders are not being good playmates. It is my hope however that we will see a change for the better. There are some banks that are already doing the responsible thing and working hard to make this painful process as pleasant as possible. You can rest assured that I will be using my brand of getting even with those fellows!!!

So till next week you know the drill by now, “The only people we have to get even with are those that have helped us”…… So get busy and go get even.

Paving the Way for Harley Davidson on Panama City Beach

READ: Harley-Davidson Dealership Groundbreaking

You’ve driven past the sign probably a thousand times since it was posted; some of you passing with excitement, others with disdain. Either way, Harley Davidson Motor Cycles is coming to Panama City Beach. The acceleration lane headed West from the intersection of Panama City Beach Parkway and Gulf Blvd is almost complete and the crews have one more layer of asphalt to lay. After that, its vroom, vrooom!

Businesses like Harley Davidson moving into our area is always a good thing, a sign of the economic prosperity to be had on our wonderful beaches. However, we at PCBDaily.com have read the comments (see exhibit A) about Bike Week and although we are fans of the event, the chromed-out weekend remains one of PCB’s most polarizing topics. Some love it, some hate. Harley Davidson’s arrival onto our beach can only mean that the bike week has more staying power than many realize.

We expect construction to begin soon on the latest addition to the Harley Davidson family of Dealers.

This construction appears to be the first of the “Commercial Opportunities” that are offered by the St. Joe Company along Panama City Beach Parkway (or Back Beach Road, as some still call it). This and other land parcels are convenient to Frank Brown Park and Pier Park.

As growth continues on Panama City Beach… We’ll keep you posted!
