Weekend Events – Music, Books & Golf!

This coming weekend, Bay County is offering up everything from a literary festival featuring Carl Hiaasen, a fundraising Golf tournament, a Beatles cover band and a theatrical foray into the mystical town of Tuna, Texas.

booksALIVE 2010

Friday, February 4th, take part in an amazing local book fest, the 11th Annual Festival booksALIVE 2010. This years keynote speaker is Carl Hiaasen, award-winning Miami Herald columnist and author of Hoot, Sick Puppy.

Writers workshops start at 10:00 a.m at Florida State University Campus right.

Saturday is Author Presentations, Book Sales 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p. m.  across the street at Gulf Coast Community College, Student Union East, Second Floor. The Literary Luncheon, featuring Carl Hiaasen at 12:30 Gulf Coast Community College Cafeteria Luncheon. Tickets are $15. Seating is limited.

Saturday night, put on your dancing shoes for the Literary Gala, an evening with our featured presenters, beginning at 7:30pm. Tickets are $75 each and are required. Contact the Panama City Beach Public Library at 233-5055 or the Bay County Public Library to get tickets now.

Film: Cruising the Eastern Mediterranean

The Bay County Audubon Society continues the Travel and Adventure Film Series. See Cruising the Eastern Mediterranean at the Arnold High School. Explore the glorious sites of Venice in this film by Sid and Mary Lee Nolan in the Auditorium at 7:00 p. m. Thursday night. Admission $5.00, and season passes only $16.00.

The Beatles at Gulf World (Tribute)

Gulf World’s Tropical Garden Theatre presents a tribute to Best of the Beatles! Come out to the Tropical Garden for  The Return – bringing you the best of the Beatles makes the music come alive Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

Golf Tournament

Come out and enjoy the beautiful outdoors, and help out some worthy young athletes this Saturday, Feb 5 at 8:00 a.m.  North Bay Haven will host a fundraising golf tournament on the Meadows course at Bay Point Golf Club. Kaleidoscope Theatre presents “Greater Tuna”

Two men play all the inhabitants (men, women, children, and animals) of Tuna, Texas. A loving satire of small-town  Southern life.  Kaleidoscope Theatre is just down the road at Lynn Haven.   1. Besides the Best of entertainment….y’all also seem to have a Lock on Sunshine…..it has been the grayest of months this winter in the ATL. Besides, again the …….. weather.
    Carl Hiaasen/The Beatles/& The Classic “Greater Tuna”….not to mention the Ocean, sand , surf….time to take to the Hwy….and appreciate the offerings of Panama City Beach Florida, her environs her air/sunshine southern hospitably, winter rates, and kindness .
    PS…..Much Ado About Nothing in under 45 seconds has to be a new record. Taming of the Shrew was FAB, but Much-Ado-About-Nothin must be a sight to be seen…….and heard @this pace. Thanks for all you do Jeannie keeping us city/slickers on the up and up..till we get to PCB.
