This week at the Beach [Video]
This is part of our This Week at the Beach series, where we show you how awesome the beach looks, usually on a weekly basis.
This week has been downright cold, but this weekend should be great, warm, and sunny. Don’t forget the awesome events we have this weekend, including the Christmas Parade in Pier Park.
Secrets of PCB – Take Fido to the Dog Beach
This is part of our Secrets of Panama City Beach series, showing you things about the beach, you’ve never dreamed of.
The journey to uncover Panama City Beach’s best kept secrets and welcomed surprises continues with my second location in the series: doggie beach. Traveling with pets have become increasingly common over the years and many people, tourists and locals alike, are unaware that there is a Florida state law that mandates that pets are not allowed on the beaches.

The BP Effect – CandyMaker
The BP Effect series is brought to you by attorneys Reich & Binstock and Seeger Weiss LLP, which are helping businesses in Panama City Beach recover losses sustained directly and indirectly from the Deep Water Horizon oil spill. They can help your business too,

Through out the course of the our BP Effect series, we’ve visited numerous industries affected by the oil spill. As we wrap up the series, the last place we wanted to check in on is with a few of our retail friends in Pier Park.
There’s been an enormous amount of information circulated regarding the financial losses and fears of business owners county wide during the height of the Spill, however, with this article I was hoping to offer a slightly different view, and with the help of Candy Maker and Trader Tom’s owner, Tom Ehlke, I’ve been able to do just that.
Welcome Winter Guests – Pick up your SunCard
Jack Frost is here, and winter has been fiercely nipping at our heels the last couple days. With literally freezing temperatures the last few nights, it’s been rather unpleasant and just flat cold. But, this time of year doesn’t typically lend itself to this type of weather. Normally it’s a warm upper 50’s during the day with clear blue skies, crystal clear water and (as always) crystal white sand.
The aforementioned description is why our northern friends flock to the beaches in the winter. When it’s a cool (by our standards) 50’s here, in many cases it’s a frigid single digit number where our guests call summertime home. Our moderate temperatures bring them down here in droves, and they help keep our area alive during what some may call the “off-season”.

Old La Borgata is New Proposed RV Park in West Panama City Beach
Do you remember La Borgata, a luxury development resort community that was to be developed on the west end of Panama City Beach? A few years ago, amid real estate horror stories and a sinking market, Ronnie Gilley Properties cleared the land, installed the infrastructure and bought the support of country music star, Alan Jackson to develop this luxury community across the street of Wild Heron. This development was to consist of just under 200 luxury town homes and condominiums from 850 to 3,000 square feet, retail shops, salt water pools, heated spas and plenty of other resort fluff.
Well, plans have changed.

Make PCBDaily Your Home Page
I have a question for you: what page opens up automatically when you open a new Internet window? Does your browser open up this as your starter page because you set it, or because that’s the way it came?
Well, if you want PCBDaily to be the first page you see when you open up your browser window, I made a quick video on how to do it!
Panama City Beach Christmas Tree Lighting
Ring in the holiday season with the annual Panama City Beach Christmas tree lighting celebration. This annual event is held at Frank Brown Park, and this year marks the 31st year Panama City Beach has been doing this.
Every year we attend, and every year we meet you and others and take part in having fun as a community. Every year local churches and schools provide refreshments and entertainment is provided by local school choirs.
Come picture ready and ready to tell Santa what you’re wanting for Christmas, kids. Santa will be out for pictures all evening.
The event starts at 6:30 pm and is at the Frank Brown Park Community Center in Panama City Beach. For more information, you can call 850-233-5045.
The BP Effect – Real Estate Suffers 45% Losses

We just talked about how the oil spill impacted real estate at an individual Realtor level. Karen Smith with Beachy Beach real estate was rocking hard at the first part of this year with record breaking sales numbers when everything dropped off in May. For her, the BP Effect was dramatic, and real. When the leak was fixed, it was like her business just “turned back on.” There was a stark contrast between her August and September sales numbers.
The real estate industry as a whole on Panama City Beach has a similar story to be told. This story is told by the sales numbers. This second installment of a two part “mini-series” is going to be sort of a conversation-in-post look at what happened over the summer and in year’s past.
