Secrets of PCB – Good Eatin at the Docks

This is part of our Secrets of Panama City Beach series, showing you things about the beach, you’ve never dreamed of.

This week is a special treat for me because I have the opportunity to write about one of my all time faves!  Nestled under oak trees and sitting right on West Bay; Boon Docks Restaurant is a must try Secret of PCB.  The drive to Boon Docks does make one think you may be going in the wrong direction, but rest assured it’s there, just set back off the main road.

Florida League Of Cities to BOOST NWFL Marketing

The dust is finally settling around the Panhandle, bringing with it the need to do a little image enhancing.

During the oil spill, misinformation regarding the impact the spill had on our beaches prompted many to choose other destinations for their vacations. Thankfully, our beaches were spared and the brunt of the spill never touched the snow-white sands of our shores.

2011 Will Be The Most Important Spring Break EVER

Spring Break on Panama City Beach has always, always, been a very tough board to balance. In past years, no matter how brilliant the public relations strategies, no matter how well-targeted the advertising and no matter how many overall arrests, no Spring Break season has ever been considered the smoothest of our four tourist seasons. In fact, although SB is without question PCB’s biggest economic boost, it remains the most polarizing topic throughout our great town; some love it, some hate it, some make money from it, others lose cash by the bucket loads. But what can be said is that 2010 was arguably one of the best years to date. Hotels had record numbers, businesses boomed and the number of major incidents declined considerably. So what was the big difference? How was 2010 more balanced than years past? Continue reading “2011 Will Be The Most Important Spring Break EVER”

Pier Park Christmas Parade [Pictures]

With a brief break in the frigid weather, this year’s Christmas Parade was as great as ever.  With thousands of attendees lining the route that weaved through Pier Park and float riders passing out buckets of candy and beads, Saturday evening was a joyous time for all.

Pier Park's New Year's Eve Headlining Band: Gloriana

The 2010 New Year’s Eve bash at Pier Park wouldn’t be complete without a full musical line up. This year, the headlining act is coming straight out of Nashville,  where the four part harmonies of Gloriana are already being considered Country’s next big thing.  Gloriana’s sound is comprised of 2 parts femininity and 2 parts male ferocity, resulting in a flawlessly energetic sound that has some comparing Gloriana to the musical styling reminiscent of  Fleetwood Mac.

Secrets of PCB – Take Fido to the Dog Beach

This is part of our Secrets of Panama City Beach series, showing you things about the beach, you’ve never dreamed of.

The journey to uncover Panama City Beach’s best kept secrets and welcomed surprises continues with my second location in the series: doggie beach.  Traveling with pets have become increasingly common over the years and many people, tourists and locals alike, are unaware that there is a Florida state law that mandates that pets are not allowed on the beaches.

Welcome Winter Guests – Pick up your SunCard

Jack Frost is here, and winter has been fiercely nipping at our heels the last couple days.  With literally freezing temperatures the last few nights, it’s been rather unpleasant and just flat cold.  But, this time of year doesn’t typically lend itself to this type of weather.  Normally it’s a warm upper 50’s during the day with clear blue skies, crystal clear water and (as always) crystal white sand.

The aforementioned description is why our northern friends flock to the beaches in the winter.  When it’s a cool (by our standards) 50’s here, in many cases it’s a frigid single digit number where our guests call summertime home.  Our moderate temperatures bring them down here in droves, and they help keep our area alive during what some may call the “off-season”.

3 Reasons Emerald Coast Cruizin Rocked this Year

This year’s Emerald Coast Cruizin Event was a great as ever.  This weekend was full of interesting and beautiful cars and thousands of people out enjoying the shiny metal and wonderful weather.  I was talking to the event promoter this morning, and his head was still spinning from the whirlwind of activity over the weekend at Frank Brown Park.

Vision Airlines Brings New Low Cost Destinations to Fort Walton Beach

Good news with regard to low cost air travel! The two destinations will be Niagara Falls and Miami – and more than 100 business and government leaders showed up at the airport for the official announcement. Seafood Festival Reporting 'Real' Numbers

If you’re looking for a conundrum, try figuring out how many people are in a large audience.  Thunder Beach’s numbers change all the time.  This past summer I was told by their General Manager that they have 80,000 bikes here over the weekend and have heard ranges in years past from 30,000 to 60,000.  How do they know how many people are here?  They make the numbers up, based on their best-guess estimates – it’s not real scientific.
