New Fire Station on Panama City Beach [UPDATE]

The new fire station that’s being built on the West End of Panama City Beach is making progress.  Construction is looking closer to completion and everything is really taking shape.  It looks like they have a roof on the main part and are putting in the structure for the roof over the garage bays.

The new fire station is scheduled for completion by this summer.

The new 11,000 square foot station will have a full kitchen, 6 dorm rooms, a two bay garage, ample parking and a huge driveway that will be plenty large enough to wash the trucks when they aren’t being used.  So far, they are under budget and ahead of schedule.

PCB’s Guide To Superbowl Shin-Digs

Superbowl Sunday is almost here, and football fans nationwide are stocking up on face-paint, home-made signs and honing their Heckle-Skills (aka:  The  Art of Fine Heckling.)

It’s a real skill, I swear. I think it’s an elective course at FSU. Either way, there’s literally, thousands of ways to get your pre-game on, but where to spend the big day is an entirely different beast.

So, we took it upon ourselves to give you an idea of which locations are hosting Superbowl parties.

CRA Update – S Thomas Drive One Year Until Done

Now that we’ve dispelled the rumor of the CRA being a bust, it’s time for an update on what’s happening out there. There has been a ton of activity with the construction of this project, although much of it may not be noticeable on the surface.

Much of the work up until this point has been underground.   Things like the repaving of streets, installing sidewalks and streetlamps and putting in landscaping only takes a few months – and incidentally, that’s what people notice the most, and it’s also what happens at the end of the project.  So, it’s easy to assume nothing’s really been going on with it for a long stretch of time, when the reality is that tons of stuff has been going on, just out of our view. Polka Dots Releases Inner Kid, Smile

Walking into Polka Dots in Pier Park, is like suddenly finding yourself teleported back to the days of when the Andy Griffith show and soda-pop shops were quickly becoming the rage.

Something about this store connects with the little kid in me,  discretely loosening  the feeble reigns connected to my Adult Decorum.  As soon as that little kid tastes the sweet, sweet freedom, races through the store giggling at the fake dog poop and merrily banging away on the Rock’em Sock’em Robot Game, he’s filled with a grin reminiscent of a whole slice of watermelon in his mouth.

Top 5 Things To Do for Valentines

It’s that time again, the one day of the year when it’s universally acceptable to let our inner sentimentalist out to play.

It’s the proper occasion to get all decked out in something red and possibly glitzy, then rush around trying to find, buy or liberate flowers for those we love (or like, or at the very least, tolerate) a little more then others.

For me, Valentines Day usually involves a futile (but good-hearted) attempt to utilize the excessive amount of art supplies we have laying around our house, then proceed to create some semblance of a  home-made valentines card for my Husband.  Since, hey– it’s the thought that counts right?

So what if that thought is now buried under 10 layers of glitter, and covered with-in an inch of it’s life by an over-zealous doily application?

Lasting Love stays, no matter how much glitter is forever embedded in the carpet.

Valentines Day traditions vary from person to person, but if you’re like many, a night on the town might be your cuppa tea.
