PCB City Council & Statewide Ban on Texting while Driving

Panama City Beach City Council voted 4-1, in support of the proposed State wide ban of driving and texting.

If this bill passes, it would make texting, emailing and instant messaging while behind the wheel, punishable by a $100 fine and points on your license.

Panama City Beach police, currently issue “Careless Driving” tickets, which is a category that texting while driving falls under. Currently, the local fine for this citation is set at $160.

Now, let us discuss.

Best Weather Update I’ve Ever Found:

“Today is forecast to be Much Warmer than yesterday.”

That’s an actual forecast for today’s weather  (Weds, Feb 9).  You just can’t beat that kind of direct, albeit vagueness.

In a slightly less vague statement, I’m happy to share that this weekend we should be looking at some sunny skies with temps hovering around the high 50’s to low 60’s.  We can expect cold, chilly nights to follow all that day-time sunshine.

New Fire Station on Panama City Beach [UPDATE]

The new fire station that’s being built on the West End of Panama City Beach is making progress.  Construction is looking closer to completion and everything is really taking shape.  It looks like they have a roof on the main part and are putting in the structure for the roof over the garage bays.

The new fire station is scheduled for completion by this summer.

The new 11,000 square foot station will have a full kitchen, 6 dorm rooms, a two bay garage, ample parking and a huge driveway that will be plenty large enough to wash the trucks when they aren’t being used.  So far, they are under budget and ahead of schedule.
