Polka Dots Releases Inner Kid, Smile

Walking into Polka Dots in Pier Park, is like suddenly finding yourself teleported back to the days of when the Andy Griffith show and soda-pop shops were quickly becoming the rage.

Something about this store connects with the little kid in me,  discretely loosening  the feeble reigns connected to my Adult Decorum.  As soon as that little kid tastes the sweet, sweet freedom, races through the store giggling at the fake dog poop and merrily banging away on the Rock’em Sock’em Robot Game, he’s filled with a grin reminiscent of a whole slice of watermelon in his mouth.

Top 5 Things To Do for Valentines

It’s that time again, the one day of the year when it’s universally acceptable to let our inner sentimentalist out to play.

It’s the proper occasion to get all decked out in something red and possibly glitzy, then rush around trying to find, buy or liberate flowers for those we love (or like, or at the very least, tolerate) a little more then others.

For me, Valentines Day usually involves a futile (but good-hearted) attempt to utilize the excessive amount of art supplies we have laying around our house, then proceed to create some semblance of a  home-made valentines card for my Husband.  Since, hey– it’s the thought that counts right?

So what if that thought is now buried under 10 layers of glitter, and covered with-in an inch of it’s life by an over-zealous doily application?

Lasting Love stays, no matter how much glitter is forever embedded in the carpet.

Valentines Day traditions vary from person to person, but if you’re like many, a night on the town might be your cuppa tea.
