Pier Park New Year’s Eve Bash a Success [PICS]

For the third year in a row, Pier Park’s New Year’s Eve party was the largest on the beach.  With a family friendly atmosphere, tons of excellent live entertainment, 7,000 beach balls, loads of fireworks and a warm night, it’s no wonder this was the place to be.

The History of the New Year’s Resolution

Out of nowhere today, I was hit with the realization that this time last year I was in the middle of having a bonafide meltdown, partially freaked out over just giving birth to our first baby and partially zombiefied from the lack of sleep (see aforementioned newborn).  Adding to the hormonal mayhem, my Mom had just been admitted into Hospice and within the next 10 days, would pass away.

Needless to say, I was emotionally confused over entering 2010 and looking back, I think the one resolution I made, was to just put my head down, and keep moving towards a better tomorrow.

Now that  2010  is getting hit with the door on it’s numerical butt, I’m overjoyed with the possibilities of 2011. My renewed sense of enthusiasm is heightened with the knowledge that last year is about to become a fading light and finally, FINALLY, I can see what the whole New Year’s Eve Resolution *hubaloo is all about.

It’s about leaving the old behind and turning to face a new day with the world giving you a chance to leave the old, the ugly and the out-dated, behind.

Yet, being someone who’s obsessed with traditions, history and “where it all began” concepts, I’ve begun to wonder about the story behind the New Year’s traditions that we now just accept as normal.

At PCBdaily.com, we realize that the Panama City Beach community is one riddled with diversity.  And keeping that in mind, we wanted to offer options to those out there who want to celebrate New Year’s Eve – but may not be feeling the crowds at Pier Park.

Let’s raise those noise makers to variety and tip our party hats to these alternative New Year’s Options!

Pier Park's New Year's Eve Headlining Band: Gloriana

The 2010 New Year’s Eve bash at Pier Park wouldn’t be complete without a full musical line up. This year, the headlining act is coming straight out of Nashville,  where the four part harmonies of Gloriana are already being considered Country’s next big thing.  Gloriana’s sound is comprised of 2 parts femininity and 2 parts male ferocity, resulting in a flawlessly energetic sound that has some comparing Gloriana to the musical styling reminiscent of  Fleetwood Mac.

Encore Presentation, Pier Park Beach Ball Drop – Extended Version

The Beach Ball Drop was awesome, and Pier Park did a great job in executing this first of many New Year’s Eve events.

The production and editing on my part was lengthy, time consuming, and exhausting, to say the least, but it was fun, very fun. The first version of  the video was just over 7 minutes, but I decided to edit it down to around 5 minutes so as to prevent it from seeming to drag on.  However, the first video was so successful and so “talked about”, I decided to release the longer 7 minute version to feature longer interviews and more footage.

Enjoy, and thanks to Pier Park for sponsoring the production of this video!

Pier Park Beach Ball Drop Video

Pier Park’s Beach Ball Drop in Panama City Beach was a huge success with thousands in attendance from all over the south-eastern United States.  The CVB’s marketing blitz covered our drive-to market while locals attended in droves.

I had a blast there with my buddy Lou shooting the whole event and have actually spent probably 12 hours reviewing and editing to get just over 5 minutes of reliving the New Year’s Eve Party on Panama City Beach.

The original version was about 8 minutes long, but I edited it down to really focus on the action. I hope that this brings back some of the emotion of the night for those of you that were there, and for those that were not there, I hope this depicts what an awesome time it truly was.

I want to thank Pier Park’s Felecia Cook for all the hard work that she and her assistant, Ashley Capps did to pull this great event off.  With the help of the PCB CVB and the local tourism industry, this is sure to be a grand tradition that we will all enjoy for years to come.

Enjoy the video.

PCBDaily LIVE VIDEO at Pier Park for New Year's Eve Bash

That’s right, you read correctly. We’re moving on up in this world.  We will be broadcasting live from Pier Park in Panama City Beach on New Year’s Eve.

So, if you have nothing else to do but sit in front of your computer on New Year’s Eve, then you can spend it with me at Pier Park.  We’ll be doing a live video starting every hour on the hour beginning at 5 pm.  Each broadcast will be a minimum of 5 minutes.  We’ll have some guests on the show, and we will be video taping all the action.

The first annual New Year’s bash at Pier Park is sponsored by Panama City Beach’s Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Margaritaville.  With live entertainment, dazzling holiday lights, and a fireworks display, this will be the place to be in Panama City Beach on New Year’s Eve.

Starting at 5:30 and going until 8 will be family time.  There will be bouncy houses from Beach Bouncers, stilt walkers, live entertainment, face-painters and more.  At 9 pm the countdown party will begin with the climax at the Beach Ball drop and a spectacular fireworks display.

Of course I will get the whole event on video, from all around Pier Park.

In order to view the live feeds, go to the TV page.  Also on the TV page, I will put up a tentative schedule in the next two days.
