Beaches and Bells Holiday 5K

This weekend, Panama City Beach is offering a break from the frantic shopping, menu planning and egg nog.  Saturday, December 18th,  in Pier Park (Arron Bessant Park) outdoor enthusiast will be gathering for a 5K or 1K Fun Run in hopes of raising money for the Lady Marlins and the Cops-N- Kids fund.  In the spirit of holiday giving, start dusting off those jogging shoes, slap on a Santa hat and get that body moving  for a good cause.  If you find yourself lacking motivation, think of this – it’s for the kids! If that still isn’t enough motivation for you, just think how delicious a hot toddy will taste after burning off all those calories. If charity doesn’t get your feet moving, maybe making merry with the beverages will!

2011 Will Be The Most Important Spring Break EVER

Spring Break on Panama City Beach has always, always, been a very tough board to balance. In past years, no matter how brilliant the public relations strategies, no matter how well-targeted the advertising and no matter how many overall arrests, no Spring Break season has ever been considered the smoothest of our four tourist seasons. In fact, although SB is without question PCB’s biggest economic boost, it remains the most polarizing topic throughout our great town; some love it, some hate it, some make money from it, others lose cash by the bucket loads. But what can be said is that 2010 was arguably one of the best years to date. Hotels had record numbers, businesses boomed and the number of major incidents declined considerably. So what was the big difference? How was 2010 more balanced than years past? Continue reading “2011 Will Be The Most Important Spring Break EVER”

Pier Park Christmas Parade [Pictures]

With a brief break in the frigid weather, this year’s Christmas Parade was as great as ever.  With thousands of attendees lining the route that weaved through Pier Park and float riders passing out buckets of candy and beads, Saturday evening was a joyous time for all.

Pier Park's New Year's Eve Headlining Band: Gloriana

The 2010 New Year’s Eve bash at Pier Park wouldn’t be complete without a full musical line up. This year, the headlining act is coming straight out of Nashville,  where the four part harmonies of Gloriana are already being considered Country’s next big thing.  Gloriana’s sound is comprised of 2 parts femininity and 2 parts male ferocity, resulting in a flawlessly energetic sound that has some comparing Gloriana to the musical styling reminiscent of  Fleetwood Mac.

Secrets of PCB – Take Fido to the Dog Beach

This is part of our Secrets of Panama City Beach series, showing you things about the beach, you’ve never dreamed of.

The journey to uncover Panama City Beach’s best kept secrets and welcomed surprises continues with my second location in the series: doggie beach.  Traveling with pets have become increasingly common over the years and many people, tourists and locals alike, are unaware that there is a Florida state law that mandates that pets are not allowed on the beaches.
